Lineman C
This collection is inspired by the wardrobe of my late great grandfather, through his time in the Navy during World War II and his life after as a father and lineman. I am exploring the idea of how photos reimagine memory and how they cannot give a full perspective because of the quality or lack of images. I did not know my Poppa very well so these photos are what I know the most. With the use of sculptural and oversized motifs, as if a grandchild was wearing their grandparent’s clothes, I hope to have capture the feeling of memories from pictures. I focused on the navy peacoat that My great-grandfather Robert wore quite a bit, as well as a Woolrich type working shirt/shacket.I brought in the Navy blues from his uniform, and adding a pop of yellow that I believe to be his aura. I used certain workwear language on the coat to bring in the element of his day job.
